Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
From the podcast - I really am looking to gain insight in to getting on my feet on my own.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm now completely self-employed running my business - Orracle Media specializing in website, CMS and E-commerce design. We're currently living out the principle, "if you find yourself forced in to a corner and absolutely had no other choice, what could you accomplish?" I guess we're going to find out!
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I want to be independent. It's become obvious to me that I've allowed too much control of my life by the hands of my employers. I've enjoyed my work, but I don't want to ever be in a position again where I am a slave to a paycheck and the whim of someone who holds my family's well-being in their hands.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
To bring some stability and peace to our family.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I've got a strong business acumen, along with technical know-how. I've worked in sales for several years, and have a strong business background. I'm also technologically savvy and own my own web design & development business. I've gone to great lengths to teach myself most of what I know regarding web design and development. I want to combine my keen eye for design, with my business expertise to lauch a successful web design business.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

Orracle Media is a family owned and operated business in Tallahassee Florida. We understand the needs of the small business owner. We also understand the budgetary issues that face business owners and our website design rates are set to be affordable and deliver maximum value accordingly. Focusing on Essential Elements For Websites - Part 2

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

In my previous post on essential elements for websites I talked about some essential pages and tools your website needs. You want your site to draw traffic, engage your visitors, and turn those visitors in to customers, clients, and raving fans. It doesn't happen automatically as soon as you hit publish - it takes thought, planning, and some extra hard work but it's worth it.

Making sure…

Focusing on Essential Elements For Websites - Part 1

Posted on August 24, 2010 at 7:30pm 5 Comments

It’s a frequent issue that comes up whenever I’m talking with someone about their website. There is so much to think about when getting your website going that it’s hard to keep up. It’s easy - really easy - to get swamped in the weeds of the fine-grain details and overlook elements that are essential to your site being successful. So if you’re not sure what’s missing from your site take note of the essentials below and make sure you’ve got them implemented. It’s your virtual reputation.…

Hi Rob,

Thank you for the welcome.  I've looked around this forum but I'm still learning the site building jargon!  Sounds like a lot of advice that I need but first I need to know the terminology!  :)  The site, you reference, Pourgirlsoaps.com, has gone by the wayside but was a stepping stone to my new site.  www.easy-home-made.com.  I've built it through SBI and have enjoyed the learning process.

The next step in my journey is to find strong links back to my site and that is my main focus.  I've vaguely perused your blog and already gotten some great ideas!   Incorporating a blog etc...

I look forward to a couple of weeks off of my j.o.b. to study and get over this next hump.

Sincerely, Lisa

Hello Rob,

I got your name from Jeff Long. I have a Word Press site that has been up for almost 2 years now. www.privatepilotinsider.com. I had about 10 to 15 pages, 70+ post and God knows how many pictures and videos. Right around new years all of this cease to exist. I can't post, change, delete or add anything. My web host says he's too busy to help. Have you heard of this or know anything about it? You can contact me directly at eldr437@bellsouth.net

Thank you for any feed back,

Tommy Eldridge

Rob, Thanks for the contact. I will definitely let you know if I need some help. I am just checking the groups out right now trying to get acclimated. I hope to add value as well as gain insights as I progress in this community.

Thanks for the greeting, Rob! I'm really happy to find a group of people that I nearly immediately felt a connection. Why do this journey alone when you can work as a group and hopefully succeed even more spectacularly?! Besides, I have found the solopreneur journey to be a lonely one sometimes (especially building an online business as I'm trying to do), so being part of a community will be healthy for me.

Hi Rob,

I saw that you recently joined the Write it Forward, Real Success and Profit for Writers group. Welcome!

The group's discussion forum is packed with ideas, and is great place to get feedback on your work, ideas and questions. Jump into the conversations and let us know how we can help you reach your writing goals.

Additionally, we frequently have questions about websites - I know you have a lot of expertise to offer in that arena.  We're glad you're here!

Best,
